When grease washes down the sink, it sticks to the insides of sewer pipes. The build-up restricts flow and by its self or in combination with other materials can block pipes completely, causing raw sewage to back up into your home or overflow into streets and streams, potentially jeopardizing the public health and the environment.
Fats, Oil and Grease (FOGG) from residential sources are the most common cause of sewer line blockages. The District offers its customers a free kit designed to aid in keeping FOGG from entering the wastewater system.
Call Kim Thur at the District at 360‑993‑8822 or sign up today – we’ll mail you a free Freeze the Grease kit.
Our “Freeze the Grease” kit consists of a lid that fits three sizes of cans, a scraper, and instructions. FOGG kits are available from the District Office; we also distribute kits door-to-door in areas that have repeated problems with blockages.
